The rabbit hole for me opened up with this unsolicited email from Paypal. I knew it was from an abandoned shopping cart and I knew I was not going to complete the order, so I ignored it. I had already looked before and they were going to add some ridiculous shipping charge.

Later on I check my email and there’s a new notice from Paypal that I completed the transaction. I did a double take and went online to check and sure enough they had charged my credit card. There was even a foreign transaction fee for the HK payee.
